"The Panther Pit” is located on the campus of
Franklin High School. It has served the Franklin
Panther football team for many years including their
1976 NC State 2A Championship .
What THE PIT lacks in modern design and amenities, it more than makes up for in spirit and support on Friday nights. It has been said that no team in WNC has a bigger home field advantage than the Panthers. Franklin plays tough at home and has a 49-12 win loss record in the Panther Pit since 2000. Former TC Roberson Coach Mike Houston called the “Panther Pit” one of the toughest places to play in Western NC. Renovation projects in the past several years have added to maintain a proper level of safety and convenience for Panther fans and visitors alike. Community support has accounted for improvements in restrooms, concessions as well as a major improvement in the seating.
