Panthers look to Young for big senior season (8/10/07)

If you’re looking for a crucial component as to what kind of success the 2007 Franklin High football team might enjoy this season, look no further than senior RB/LB Josh Young.

Young (6-0, 215), entering his third season as a starter at LB, finished second on the team each of the past two seasons in tackles (114 and 79, respectively), while ranking third in rushing during his junior campaign with 659 yards.   With the graduation of the top two rushers from 2006 (Chris Lequire and Robert Browning) and the team’s leading tackler the past two seasons (Michael Carson), Young will be looked to and counted on heavily as the leader on both sides of the ball this fall.

Not only the leading returning rusher and tackler, Young also returns as the team’s leading pass catcher from 2006 with 14 receptions (154yards).

A bruising runner and punishing tackler, Young is currently 73 tackles shy of Carson’s school record 268* and 321 rushing yards away from becoming the school’s 16th * career 1,000 runner.

Franklin, coming off back-to-back 11-2 seasons, will open their 2007 schedule August 17th at home against Hayesville.
